"It was as large as a sea-gull's egg."
This quote is a good example of a hyperbole because it is an over exaggeration of what size the pearl really is.
35
"It is a pearl such as one has never seen."
This quote is a good example because I'm pretty sure someone has seen a larger pearl than the one described in the book, so they exaggerated the size of the Pearl. But i imagine it was pretty large in comparison to other pearls that the other village people have found.
87
"But Kino had become as cold and deadly as steel."
This is a good example of an hyperbole because it contributes to the story and helps the reader know what Kino has become and how he feels and what is going on in the story. It allows you to understand what Kino is going through and helps paint a picture in the reader's mind.

"... the city of harsh outer walls and inner cool gardens where a little water played and the bougainvillaea crusted the walls with purple and brick red and white."
This Is a good example because it paints a picture of what the city looks like and allows the reader to turn the image into a picture of their own, in what they believe the white city looks like in their mind.
52
"The hum of talk came to him dimly, his rage blood pounded in his ears, and he burst through and strode away."
I believe that this is a good example of imagery because by reading what the author is explaining to you, it is like you are actually in the scene with Kino and you can feel how angry Kino is and how, and why he is reacting in such a way.
60
" The pale moon dipped in and out of the strands of clouds so that Juana walked in darkness for a moment and in light the next."
This is a good example because it feels like you are on the beach with Juana and you can see the moon with her and feel the night sky above you.
19
"The flutes were shining black to brown, and only a few small barnacles adhered to the shell."

2
"Behind him Juana's fire leaped into flame and threw spears of light . . . "
This is a good example of personification because it is saying that fire is leaping and throwing items, when really fire can't leap or throw items in real life. It is very descriptive though and helps the reader to better understand what is happening in the story.
57

"...The nerves of the town were pulsing and vibrating with the news."
This is a good example of a personification because it's suggesting that a town has nerves and that they are pulsing and vibrating, when really that's not possible. :)

84
" She peered like an owl from the hole in the mountain . . . "
I believe that thins is a good example of a simile because the passage is describing the two together while using the words "like or as" and describes the image well because it helps you to better understand what is happening in the story, and puts an image in your mind.

23
"The news stirred up something infinitely black and evil in the town; the black distillate was like the scorpion, or like the hunger in the smell of food, or like loneliness when love is withheld.
